Match report v Lavant
23rd August 2015
Lodsworth 192 for 5 (35 overs) (Campbell 76, Scott 62, Lam 35 n.o.)
Lavant 149 for 8 (35 overs) ( M.Hall 3-32)
Lodsworth won by 43 runs
A mid morning downpour put the fixture against Lavant in doubt but the weather cleared in time to allow play to start on time at 2pm with 35 overs per side.
Losing the toss as usual and put into bat on sticky wicket with variable bounce, the Lodsworth openers dug in on a difficult surface to see off the opening bowlers, and as the sun shone the wicket started to dry and the runs started to flow. Half centuries from Finn Campbell (76), Chris Scott (62) and a quick fire 35 from Justin Lam, Lodsworth finished with a solid total of 192 .
After lashings of cake and sarnies, Lavant were pinned down by Lodsworth’s young opening bowlers Jamie Hill (15) and Ben Cooper (13), and with 3 wickets from Matt Hall, the usual miserly spell from veteran spinner Paul Phillips and a first wicket for Joel Phillips they never looked like reaching a winning total.
So it was off to the Hollist for the obligatory roast spuds and gravy, washed down with a few pints of Langham’s finest ale.
Man of the Match Chris Scott ( great innings and wicket keeping)
