“ Too many out, not enough still in”
Graffham 128 for 9(35 overs) (A.Long 3-1, P.Phillips 3-25, J.Hill 1-24)
Lodsworth 105 All Out (32 overs) (S.Dean 27, P.Phillips 20)
Lodsworth lost by 17 runs
Three days after the “out “ vote, Lodsworth welcomed local neighbours Graffham to The Rec and on winning the toss, the visitors were put into bat on a pitch which looked like it would offer assistance to the bowlers.
Back “in” came Andy Long after a week off and bowled seven overs, taking three wickets for just one run. Well supported by Jamie Hill, Paul Phillips and Sam Dean, the home side could be happy going “in “ to tea with what appeared a below par score. Another fine effort of home made sausage rolls, sandwiches and cake awaited the players and a casual tea with The Euros on in the background, kept hunger at bay as the players waited to go “out” for the second half of the match.
Clearly Sam Dean had gained some energy over the break and smashed two sixes and two fours for the highest score of the innings. The majority of the batsman found getting “out” quite easy and sadly, even a brave nought not out for Josh Collins at the end could not prevent Lodsworth being all “out” as both teams voted to head to the pub for drinks and chips. A recount was not needed and maybe leaving the EU will bring better fortunes for the team for the rest of the season
