8th July 2016 at Elstead
Lodsworth 102 All out(19 overs) (M.Hall 24, J.Hill 18)
Elstead 103 for 9 (18.1 overs) (D. Prichard 2-3, A.Long 2-7)
Lodsworth lost by 1 Wicket
A new fixture on the calendar, this one being a 20/20 match on a sunny Friday evening, just across the border into Surrey. The rules of the match biased towards everybody getting a bowl and the batters retiring at 25.
Unsurprisingly the toss was lost again and on what is probably the best wicket that we have played on this year, Lodsworth were inserted. A very bright start from Jamie Hill, which included two fours and a six in the first three overs, saw the score reach 20 after two overs. However, steady bowling and some indifferent batting resulted in a below score at the halfway mark. Only Matt Hall holding it together in the middle of the innings.
Lodsworth were soon back in the field and the opposition took a while to come out(making the most of the competitively priced beer in the clubhouse apparently), which gave the stand in keeper, Rob, a chance to get used to the sight of the ball ( doesnt usually hang around long enough to see it). A steady start from the home side and a couple of early wickets set the game up nicely. Dan Prichard( of Elstead but today of Lodsworth) found himself on a hat trick as the game tightened. In came the hosts Aussie ringer and it rained sixes. Long and Hall nearly swung it back to the visitors but the game was one with a mighty six and the teams retired to the clubhouse.
A good game, a new fixture and hopefully one to continue for the future.
